How To Record Clubhouse With A Rodecaster Pro

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please Read This First!

Read The Clubhouse App Terms of Service Before Recording Any Rooms!

Many people have asked me to share how I connected my Rodecaster Pro to the Clubhouse App which allows me to send high-quality microphone audio, audio clips/jingles to the Clubhouse app and that also allows me to record the entire Clubhouse room to my Rodecaster Pro.

I will briefly describe how I do this. HOWEVER, I think it is essential that you read the terms of service, from the Clubhouse App, to make your own interpretation as to whether or not you are able to record Clubhouse rooms, and if so, under what circumstance.

Here's What I Use...

A Rodecaster Pro: (Affiliate Link Here)

Note: I love my Rodecaster Pro. I actually own three of them.

I've been podcasting since 2005, have produced 40 different podcasts and over 5,500 of my own podcast episodes. I have also trained more than 40,000 people how to podcast, and this is, hands down, the best piece of podcasting equipment that I've ever owned.

(It should go without saying, but you would also want to have a microphone, some type of mic stand, a mic cable and a set of headphones to hook up to the Rodecaster Pro)

Rode SC9 3.5mm TRRS to TRRS Cable (4.9'): (CLICK THIS LINK)

Note: While you can use any TRRS to TRRS Cable from any cheaper brand, It is ESSENTIAL that you get a cable that as a 3.5mm TRRS plug on both ends. This means that you MUST HAVE THREE RINGS on the plug at each end of the cable. (See Image)

Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter: (CLICK THIS LINK)

Note: It is essential that you buy the OFFICIAL APPLE product. There are many knock off products that only allow for audio out but do not have the ability to send audio back into Clubhouse App.

Simple Connection:

Simply plug one end of the 3.5mm cable into the Smartphone Jack on the back of the Rodecaster Pro. Plug the other end of that cable into the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Dongle. Plug the Apple Dongle into your phone. (SEE PHOTO)

To hear the audio from Clubhouse, you'll need to turn up the "Smartphone Slider" on the Rodecaster Pro. It has the same Smartphone icon as shown above the smartphone plug on the back of the unit.

MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED FIRST

There is no way to charge your phone at the same time with this setup. There are dongles out there that have both an additional lightning port and also a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, all that I have tried are not TRRS compatible (this means you can send no microphone audio from the Rodecaster to the Clubhouse App).
